We’re working with a respected building services consultancy known for delivering innovative, sustainable engineering solutions across residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. As part of their continued growth, the business is establishing a dedicated Heat Networks team and is now looking to appoint a Senior Heat Networks Engineer to lead on the design, optimisation, and delivery of heat network systems.
This is a newly created role offering the chance to take technical ownership of heat network design across multiple projects. You’ll be developing detailed designs, calculations, and schematics for energy centres and distribution networks, ensuring compliance with the latest regulations and best practice. Alongside design delivery, you’ll support commissioning, testing, and optimisation of existing networks, helping to improve performance and long-term efficiency. You will also help grow the team, mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the development of a specialist heat networks function.
You’ll act as the technical lead for heat networks within the business, working closely with M&E engineers, project teams, and clients. You’ll provide expert guidance, support design reviews, and help ensure consistent technical quality across all projects. Projects will typically include residential schemes ranging from 50 to several thousand dwellings, energy centres, and communal heat network upgrades, as well as new developments where heat network design is required.
Key Responsibilities – Senior Heat Networks Engineer
• Lead on the design and development of heat network systems, including energy centres and distribution networks
• Produce and review design schematics, calculations, and technical documentation
• Ensure designs meet relevant standards, regulations, and performance requirements
• Support commissioning, testing, and optimisation of new and existing networks
• Provide technical leadership and support to internal teams and clients
Ideal Candidate
You’ll have a strong background in building services or M&E design, with solid technical understanding of heat network systems, energy centres, and communal heating. You’ll be confident producing and reviewing detailed designs and drawings, with a strong grasp of both technical delivery and on-site coordination. Experience mentoring junior engineers or helping to build a specialist team would be advantageous.
