Mechanical Pre-Construction Manager Required

We’re partnered with a leading M&E Contractor delivering complex Life Science, Residential and Commercial projects across the UK. With individual projects averaging £20M, they’re looking to appoint a high-calibre Pre-Construction Manager to provide leadership through the design and planning stages.

The Role

As Pre-Construction Manager, you’ll oversee external design consultants through RIBA Stages 3–5, ensuring design development is aligned with project objectives, programme, and budget. You’ll act as the link between consultants, Contracts Managers, and senior leadership, ensuring the business has visibility at every step and that projects are positioned for a seamless handover into operations.

This is a key opportunity to shape project outcomes at the front end while working alongside some of the sector’s most respected Design Managers, Contracts Managers, and M&E leadership teams.

This opportunity would suit a Principal Design Engineer, Design Manager or Contracts Manager with a Mechanically focused client orientated background.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the pre-construction process across £20M+ M&E projects.
• Manage and challenge external design consultants to ensure quality, compliance, and efficiency.
• Oversee design progression through RIBA Stages 3–5, ensuring readiness for operations.
• Provide structured updates and recommendations to the Senior Leadership Team.

About You

• Proven experience in Pre-Construction / Design Management within M&E / Building Services.
• Strong understanding of RIBA Stages 3–5 and managing external consultants.
• Excellent communication skills, able to keep senior stakeholders informed and aligned.
