One of our favourite clients is seeking an Intermediate Interior Designer to join their highly creative New York studio renowned for bold, distinctive, and richly layered interiors in residential and hospitality projects. The studio blends artistry, functionality, and material innovation to create spaces that are tactile, refined, and narratively compelling. This role bridges creative design and project execution, requiring a designer who can balance big-picture vision with meticulous attention to detail, while maintaining a strong sense of proportion, quality, and storytelling through materials and objects.
The ideal candidate is organized, resourceful, and self-motivated, able to manage multiple priorities while collaborating effectively with a diverse team. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to engage confidently with clients are essential. Responsibilities include sourcing antique, vintage, and bespoke furniture, researching and selecting materials, developing FF&E plans, designing custom pieces, and preparing detailed documentation for finishes, fixtures, and hardware. The designer will work closely with architects and artisans to ensure decorative elements align with the overall design intent and will manage budgets, procurement, installation schedules, and on-site execution.
Candidates should have at least three years of professional experience in high-end residential interior design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating layered, eclectic, and historically informed interiors, including heritage renovations, bespoke plasterwork, and custom textiles. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop, and InDesign is required, along with a well-established network of artisans and suppliers worldwide, combined with a refined artistic sensibility and technical expertise, is strongly valued.
Additional responsibilities include coordinating with workrooms to ensure high-quality craftsmanship and creating compelling client presentations that communicate design concepts clearly.
